KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, commonly known as KLM, is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands. KLM was founded in 1919, making it one of the oldest airlines in the world still operating under its original name. It merged with Air France in 2004 to form the Air France-KLM Group, but it continues to operate under its own brand.
KLM’s main hub is Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), which serves as a major European gateway. The airline operates a modern fleet consisting primarily of Boeing aircraft, including the Boeing 777, 787 Dreamliner, and 737 families. It also has a few Airbus A330 aircraft in its fleet. KLM serves more than 130 destinations worldwide, covering Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. It has an extensive network of both short-haul and long-haul routes.
KLM offers various travel classes, including Economy Class, Economy Comfort (offering extra legroom and additional amenities), Business Class, and its premium offering, World Business Class, featuring lie-flat seats and luxury amenities. Passengers on KLM flights have access to a wide range of entertainment options, including movies, TV shows, music, and games, available through personal seatback screens or personal devices via the inflight entertainment system. The airline is known for its onboard dining experience, which often includes Dutch-inspired cuisine alongside international dishes. Passengers can also enjoy complimentary beverages, including wine and beer.
KLM’s frequent flyer program, Flying Blue, allows members to earn miles on KLM flights as well as those of its SkyTeam alliance partners. These miles can be redeemed for flights, upgrades, hotel stays, car rentals, and more.
