  5. Urban Planning and Development: Facilitating urban planning, land use management, and spatial development initiatives to promote sustainable urbanization, address urban challenges, and improve the living environment in urban areas.
  6. Rural Development: Implementing strategies to promote the socio-economic development of rural areas, including agriculture and agribusiness development, rural infrastructure improvement, access to basic services such as education and healthcare, and poverty alleviation programs.
  7. Local Government Elections: Organizing and conducting local government elections, in collaboration with the Electoral Commission of Ghana, to ensure the democratic representation of citizens at the local level and promote accountable and responsive local governance.
  8. Inter-governmental Relations: Facilitating collaboration and coordination among various levels of government, including central, regional, and local authorities, as well as traditional and community leaders, to address cross-cutting issues, leverage resources, and promote integrated development planning.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development plays a pivotal role in promoting local democracy, empowering communities, and driving inclusive and sustainable development across Ghana, particularly in rural and underserved areas.
